LWL Community Psychotherapy service is a vibrant community based
counselling and psychotherapy service in county Longford operating

Longford and the surrounding area.
Our community needs are changing and we are listening to what those
needs are. We are placed at the forefront of responding to these
changes and we are currently developing our services to providing
specialist supports to adolescents in our community.
As an Independent Contractor you will be working with resilient young

website** who will present with a wider range of life challenges. Our
client base includes a high proportion of migrant members of our
communities as well as those who are marginalised in our society. You
will be getting a wealth of experiences working with our clients and
working in a dynamic community organisation. As with all areas of our
work in LWL we will be mindful of the impact of the external
environment and the inequalities experienced by our clients and this
lived reality will be reflected in the development of our community
counselling service. Your input to this development is crucial and
will happen in group support supervision and your interaction with
management.
POSITION: INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR.
HOURS: 1 day per week (negotiable)
METHOD: Face to face in our purpose-built counselling suite

Remuneration will be dependent on qualifications and experience
AREAS OF WORK
* FACE TO FACE counselling/psychotherapy to clients aged between

* Attendance at support and supervision with clinical supervisor.
* Attendance at 1 monthly peer support and supervision meeting.
* Maintaining client records in accordance with the code of practice
of LWL Community Psychotherapy service
* Provide a service that is guided by the code of ethics and
practices according to LWL Community Psychotherapy service and your
own accrediting body
REQUIREMENTS AND ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
* The successful candidate will hold a professional accredited
counselling/psychotherapy qualification
* Accredited by the Irish Association for Counselling and
Psychotherapy (IACP) or Irish Association for Humanistic Integrative
psychotherapy (IAHIP), Irish Association for Play Therapy &
Psychotherapy, British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
(BACP) or other relevant body.
* A relevant professional qualification
* Min 2 years post qualification experience
* Min of 2 year?s experience working with young people either as a
counsellor or in other community service disciplines
* Experience of working with survivors of trauma
* Commitment to and active participation in professional development
and take responsibility for one?s own continued professional
development.
* Commitment to working as part of a team
* Commitment to working with the dignity of the client and
maintaining their confidentiality
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well under own
initiative
